Some the most well-known herbs are considered adaptogen herbs that support our bodies response to stress and have a normalizing effect our systems, including our hormones. Sounds like just the support we need for our busy lives, and packed schedules. But there are some down-sides to these infamous herbs.
Known for their ability to strongly tonify qi (build and give energy), any of the herbs listed must be used cautiously by anyone who experiences pre-hypertension or hypertension, headaches, especially migraine headaches, insomnia, hyperactivity or anyone who is easily stimulated.
These herbs can be taken as a tablet, capsule or tincture and are best taken early in the day so as not to disrupt your sleep. If you want to incorporate an adaptogenic herb into your health regimen, start with a low dose to test for sensitivity, or consult with a trained herbalist to ensure you begin taking a product that is most suitable for you.
If you would like to learn more about adaptogenic herbs and how they might be beneficial for you, please book an herbal consult with me at your convenience, I look forward to working with you!
